Did you know that low back pain is one of the top reasons people seek medical attention in the U.S.? It is a tough to treat. Studies have shown that very few medical therapies ranging from medications to injections to surgeries can reliably relieve it… where as some can even aggravate the problem even worse.

Lower back pain can be described in two ways: a dull constant ache or severe and sudden sharp pain that can leave the individual incapacitated, unable to stand or sit. The lower back is the region where most individuals feel the most pain. There are several causes of lower back pain which include:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Herniated or ruptured disks
  • Inter-vertebral disc degeneration
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Traumatic injury to the back
  • And more

Lower back pain is the leading cause of job disability in the world. About one in ten people have it, and for many who develop back pain, the condition becomes chronic.

According to the American Massage Therapy Association, research shows that massage therapy provides several important low back pain relieving benefits, including:

  • Improved blood circulation; massage allows energy to begin to flow freely throughout the body, in return aiding in blood circulation and getting nutrient-rich blood to any stagnant areas located in the lower back.
  • Relaxed low back muscles for an improved range of motion.
  • Increased endorphin levels. The increase of endorphin levels is actually one of the greatest benefits of massage therapy. Endorphins are the chemicals the body produces that make you feel good, which is very effective in managing chronic pain.

Kat’s Natural’s CBD cream and sublingual oils have been proven to help with chronic joint pain! At Heal. we are also able to infuse CBD cream into your massage for an anti-inflammatory response, ultimate relaxation and overall deeper healing.

CBD works directly with your own internal endocannabinoid system! This endocannabinoid system is responsible for your mood, appetite, memory, sleep function, pain, motor function and more. When your endocannabinoid system is out of balance, the rest of your body can experience far reaching negative effects!

It’s no surprise that with a regular dosing of CBD, your body begins to tap into a state of balance which in return promotes stress relief, chronic pain begins to subside, better sleep, quicker healing and so much more.

At Heal. in Altamonte Springs, we carry a wide variety of different ways to incorporate CBD into your daily life. Not only do we carry sublingual CBD tinctures that are easily taken underneath the tongue for optimum healing, we also carry CBD creams and even chocolates for you to begin to implement into your self-care routine.

Lastly, while we are on the topic of CBD oil, there are also a wide array of essential oils that can promote relief in the pain experienced in the low back (and really anywhere in the body!)

Essential oils are highly concentrated and potent substances and so they are advised to be used in small amounts and only after diluting them properly.

Analgesic properties make them excellent pain relievers. Essential oils such as peppermint and wintergreen provide cooling pain relief while ginger, thyme and black pepper give warming relief.

Essential oils are also powerful anti-inflammatory agents. Inflammation is a root cause of pain so reducing inflammation is a key treatment for relieving chronic pain.

Other essential oils carry stimulant properties that help increase blood circulation to the painful area, which enables nutrient-rich blood to flow to the area and nourish it. Like previously mentioned earlier, certain essential oils paired with massage can most certainly provide nourishment to any areas in the body suffering of chronic pain.

Essential oils also carry relieving properties! Stress can lead to body aches and pains including lower back pain. Inhaling essential oils and applying them topically have been proven to have therapeutic stress relieving properties.

These 6 essential oils all provide some type of soothing relief, numbing, warming or cooling that when combined in certain methods can provide relief during bouts of chronic back pain:

  1. Ginger
  2. Black Pepper
  3. Vetiver
  4. Sweet Marjoram
  5. Peppermint
  6. Thyme

Ask us at your next massage to incorporate any of these essential oils into your massage, especially if the goal is to relieve low back pain!

If you are interested in learning more about different ways to pair these pain relieving essential oils, send us an email over at info@heal407.com and we will send you a special recipe! This essential oil recipe can be used with self massage as well.

Until next time,

All the heals.

I’m glad you mentioned herniated or ruptured disks because my mom is suffering from those. She has a lot of pain daily, and she’s been looking for a solution. I’ll have to recommend she try your suggestion and see if it helps. I would love to see her free of pain once more.

My mother has been having some issues with her back at the moment. It is good to know that things like peppermint can help smooth her inflamed muscles in her back. It might be smart for her to go see a chiropractor as well.

It’s interesting to know that massage therapy can help you to reduce back pain because it allows energy to flow throughout the body. My husband has been struggling with back pain recently, and we are looking for advice. I will let him read your article to help him understand how to relieve his back pain.

I didn’t realize that massage and essential oils could help relieve the stress and improve your blood circulation so you can avoid developing chronic back pain. My brother should look into these options because he typically has a dull ache that will flare into a sharp pain depending on his movement. Maybe there are different treatment options depending on the source of the pain.

My lower back muscles are so tight that they are actually messing with my pelvic floor. Because of this, I’ve been thinking of getting a massage. It’s great that CBD oil can be used in a massage to help relieve stress. Thanks for the great information on treating lower back pain.

It is interesting that massaging helps with blood circulation and getting nutrient-rich blood to areas in the lower back. My wife has had lower back pain for over three weeks now and we are trying to figure out how to bring her relief. We may consider trying interventional injections or something like that as well.

It’s so nice that massage therapy can help to improve your circulation to help the blood flow in your lower back and increase your endorphin levels to manage and help some chronic pain. My brother-in-law got rear-ended in his car this time last year and has some lower back pain lingering from the accident. I will suggest that he get some regular massages and especially go into a wellness center to help him find treatment.
