The Energy of Fascia

Fascia was always something that was left out when we learned about human anatomy
and physiology in school for massage in Altamonte Springs.
When dissecting an animal, it was the part of the body that
the teacher said, “that layer of tissue that surrounds the muscle, go ahead and just toss
that out!”.
However, since I became a massage therapist in Altamonte Springs, it is probably THE most talked about and most important part of the body, when it comes to healing.

Did you know this “tossable layer of tissue” called fascia, carries emotions, memories, and transmits electrical impulses?
It is a liquid crystalized, web-like structure, sometimes referred to as “the mother matrix”, because it is an extensive, three-dimensional, interconnected web of collagen-based tissue that wraps, supports, and shapes every organ, muscle, bone, and nerve fiber from head to toe.
Doesn’t sound very “tossable” now, does it?
Now, when we are born, our little baby bodies and nervous systems have not undergone any trauma, and our energetic body is pure.
So the fascia is moveable, more jelly/liquid like in structure. As we get older, you ever notice your flexibility doesn't come as naturally? Or, you start to have pain in different parts of the body that never fully goes away?
Yes, it is natural to not be AS supple as you were as an infant, but when the fascia
becomes so dense it disrupts your quality of life, there is something deeper going on.
Chances are you have experienced some physical or emotional pain in your life, and that
memory of the pain gets stored in the fascia!
Usually, this is what leads people to find me for myofascial release, energy work or Thai Massage in Altamonte Springs.
Now, let’s discuss the energetic body, and how the heck it relates to our fascia.
You remember I told you about how fascia carries electrical impulses?
Just as the Earth has an electromagnetic field, so do we! There is a life-force energy
that is often referred to as “prana” or “qi”, that is always present in, and around us.
That is the energy we want to pull from, and come back to.
We all know that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, only transformed. So as we
interact with people, we pick up all sorts of different forms of energy.
I don’t like to refer to energy as “good or bad” but rather, unbalanced.
Unbalanced energy is all around, our vessel could pick up that unbalanced energy from someone in traffic, or waiting in line at the DMV. Nobody likes waiting in line at the DMV…
So that “unbalanced” experience or energy we have taken on, in our own biofield, needs
somewhere to go. Where does it go? Yep, you guessed it, our fascia.
Now, in order to keep that energy flowing, our fascia has to be fluid and moveable.
If we do not move our bodies, get bodywork, stay hydrated, etc. We run the risk of our fascia becoming sticky, stagnant, and dense. So when the “unbalanced” energy hits the stagnant fascia, it stays.

That is where energy work, and fascial release bodywork, become the bestest friends!
The goal is not only to get you pain free and improve posture, but it is to get you more
embodied.
To feel FREE in your body. Able to think clearly, move freely, and allow that
life-force energy or Qi, to flow through you and around you with ease.
If you truly want to un-stuck yourself, we've got to address the fascia. Let's get you on the mat for an energy work infused Thai Massage in Altamonte Springs soon!
